10 Things to do when you have an exam and you haven’t prepared yet..

Things to do when you have an exam, and you have not prepared until the last moment

  1. The first and the most important thing to do is to give up on your pleasures and enjoyment.now that we have less time for preparation we need to eliminate the free time. Last-minute preparation is not a good thing to practice, anyhow when we have no other choice we need to give all our 100 % effort into the preparation.

  2. You should have a proper timetable and set your schedule.  Upon planning, a student must be ready to sacrifice all the other pleasures. Plan your timetable in such a way that you divide the time left most effectively. Analyse the subjects you need more time in, give priorities to those subjects. Distribute the whole day into parts and study the subjects in the stipulated time.

  3. Do not procrastinate, keep pushing yourself and don’t skip the timetable you have made and abide by it. As we are preparing at the last moment there isn’t even thought of procrastination as the time in our hand is already less. While preparing, make sure that when you finish a topic, you are already thorough with it. Because we won’t have enough time to come back and finish the same portions.

  4. Set clear goals and deadlines and follow them with utmost faith. Push yourself to the highest limit you can. Divide the time left into two parts one for the thorough preparations and the other for revision. Revision is very important as a student gets to know which area he needs to be more careful about in revisions. As we won’t, have much time for mock tests and self-assessment make sure you keep testing yourself as you finish the portions..
  5. Stop postponing things and follow the timetable.
  1. Get yourself materials that’ll help you understand the concept easily in a shorter span of time. Keeping in mind the very less time available with us, we need to find the materials that will make it easier for us to study. Studying complex materials would take more time to understand and analyse. Find the book that would help your level of understanding and stick to them.

  2. Do not get yourself any distraction, whenever you feel like being pulled towards something, remind yourself about your dream. All your distraction would cost you your goal. If you feel like something would distract you or won’t let you concentrate on your last-minute preparation, stay away from it. Put all your mind and time into the preparation you won’t have the space for distractions.

  3. avoid peer pressure. Stop comparing yourself with your friends. Do not ask your friends how much of the portions they have completed and put yourself down. Every student has his own pace. Don’t doubt yourself by seeing your friends.this is the time to concentrate on yourself and not others. Cut unnecessary communication with others. Approach either your staff or online classes to clear your doubt.

  4. prepare from last year question papers. Most of the times, preparing from previous year question papers would give you an idea of the pattern of questions. Hence you can be able to figure which portion to provide more priority. The chances of the same questions repeating are higher too. Thus It may be helpful. Study the question papers and learn the methods in which the question has been solved, even if the same question isn’t asked, the technique to solve maybe same, which may help you in solving the problem. Don’t underestimate any topic.cover all the topics even if it doesn’t have high weightage in the question paper.

  5. Revision is the essential thing in last-minute preparation. Last-minute preparation is squeezing the whole syllabus is a short span of time. Hence refreshing what he has studied is very important. Revision is the place to test your memory and find out the places you still need to refresh. Revision is not studying, so do not keep any portion for studying in the last moment. Revision is for building confidence in yourself. Make at least 3 revisions and test yourself in all the parts of the portions. If you feel like you like in any topic, make yourself thorough in the topic immediately. Make sure when you complete your last revision you are confident enough to be able to solve any question that is given to you.

Most importantly, do not stress yourself. Because if you lose your calm, all the 10 points listed above will go waste. Keep your mind at peace to concentrate more.

10 Things to Recollect When Starting IIT JEE Preparation

JEE preparations can be hard on students if they have no clarity on how to prepare for the exam. Here we can find the 10 important things to remember while preparing for the exam.

1. IIT JEE exams are meant to be a marathon and not a sprint. Speed is not going to help with JEE exams, as only determination, perseverance and hard work would help in clearing the exam

2. Comparing with other people is never a healthy habit unless it makes oneself better. The goal is not to be better than others but to be better than what we were yesterday

3. Mistakes are not always a bad thing. During the preparation, a lot of mistakes are bound to happen; but that shouldn’t be disheartening. Rather, it must be used to the advantage, as mistakes will prompt us to learn more

4. Always being open with the teachers regarding the doubts is the most important and best way to score more. Keeping the doubts and questions within, thinking it would be silly to ask such questions to teachers might be cause of the failure as every single detail matter

5. Using technology to our advantage is also important; there are various websites that help in solving questions, and also keeping in touch with the students and solving questions together is also an easy way to understand things

6. Determination is very important. If the first few questions in a question paper seems tough, then it must not be immediately considered a failure. Keeping the cool, finding easier questions to solve is going to relax the mind and help in solving the other questions. Mindset matters

7. Motivation is very important. There will be times where we feel down; but motivating oneself everyday will prove very efficient in due course

8. Self-belief is a great motivator. ‘If not me, then who?’ must be the mantra for everyone, as self-belief gives immense power and self-doubt will only pave way for failure

9. If the goal is to join IIT just because that people say life is settled once students enter IIT, then people are highly mistaken. Life begins with IIT, as it is just an institute which provides quality education. The goal must not be to join IIT, but to utilize its full potential and improve in life

10. Last but not the least, humility and modesty is important. Thinking that one knows everything and being arrogant will never be healthy for a learning mind as arrogance doesn’t help in growth. Modesty and humbleness will help with learning new things

The journey of IIT preparation might be long and hard one, but completing the journey is going to open doors for more opportunities. Keep calm and take up the challenge!

All the very best.

Ventures to be Mentally Strong in Drop Year – For NEET/JEE Repeaters

There are multiple articles that focus mainly on the reading strategies, the ways of preparation and the goal is only to clear the exam. But this article is mainly going to focus on the most important thing of all, the mental health of the candidate!

How to improve Mental Strength in Drop Year

Teenagers are known to feel anxious or depressed over the silliest things. When students have a sole dream that is bound to decide their career, a little bit of anxiousness and tension is bound to be present. Mental breakdowns are also common for these students.

The most important thing that the students must understand is that having a trouble-free mind and being happy and relaxed is the key to concentrate and focus on the studies.

Most candidates feel depressed by the fact that they are repeaters and that they are wasting a year of their life. It is OK to take time to achieve the perfect goal that has been already set. People would always try to fool themselves with the notion that they should completely separate and isolate themselves from the rest of the world so that they don’t get distracted.

No one is the exact copy of another person. He perspectives and opinions are going to vary greatly between two individuals. So if one person feels comfortable isolating themselves from the outside world and social interaction and feel like they perform better that way, it is not going to work the same for everyone. If a person has been known to be a “people’s Person” their entire life, isolating themselves will do more harm than good, as they easily get frustrated from being alone.

Sacrifices are important, but the cost must not be the emotional and mental breakdown. It could push the individual away from their goal.

Chilling out with friends is important, relaxation is very imperative after a very serious session of preparation, as it gives time for the mind to process and relax in all way possible. The students often make the mistake of pushing themselves too far out of their comfort zone that they become a burden to themselves.

It is very important for the students to devise a plan which would suit them rather than blindly following what everyone lase follows.

Keeping calm is the only goal here, even when relatives tease and taunt or try to “advice”, or when the test series marks are low. The goal is attainable and the confidence and a calm mind would be the key to success.

Last but not the least, competitive exams aren’t the end of the world and it shouldn’t have a permanent or lasting effect on the students who are attempting them.
