Venper Academy’s Department of Biology that this is the best time to revise & stabilize the Subject. Biology in the last lap is more of a repeated reading, revising & reflecting. Thus, we felt its our duty to share our proven strategies shared by our Toppers & our Expert Faculties for Department of Biology. Presenting it simple,

Ecology is the most important topic for NEET Biology. On an average, 10 questions are asked in the NEET exam from this topic every year. This is an easy and the most scoring topic in biology.

Bio-diversity & Conservation is a small chapter but we can expect questions from NCERT level topics like Ex situ & In situ conservation.

Sexual reproduction in Flowering plants & Reproduction focus more on examples and diagrams as we are getting questions from Diagrams too.

Human reproduction and Human reproductive health especially reproductive health though smaller unit questions very frequently being asked from that chapter from NCERT BASIS.

Human Physiology and Plant physiology are equally important topics for NEET 2020. Together around 20-25 questions are asked from these two topics in NEET exam.

Demanding Clarity is the most important topic of concept in the listed , as more application-based questions are asked in the exam. You should prepare and practice these important topics thoroughly.

Genetics & Evolution is another very important chapter for NEET. Evolution is very easy but you need to understand.

Practice the concepts in Genetics as much as possible like Pedigree crosses, Sex determination methods etc. Each and every line is important as last year a question being asked about Nationality of Scientist makes us understand how important every line in textbook is.

Cell structure & Function chapter also carries a good weightage in the NEET exam and as such is an important chapter. Focus more on NCERT based line by line.

Biotechnology is Another very important chapter for NEET . This is a small topic, easy to understand but quite scoring, till now from this chapter much questions are being asked from NCERT textbook only.

Normally, the questions are not repeated in the NEET exam. It is advised that you complete the syllabus thoroughly and prepare these important chapters for NEET 2020. You should also focus on solving questions related to these important chapters. But don’t ignore other chapters. You should be aware of all the concepts at the NCERT LEVEL for sure.

Thus, to gain 600+ marks in NEET, you will need to prepare the whole syllabus thoroughly. The list of important chapters for NEET and their chapter wise weightage only helps you understand the pattern from the previous NEET examinations.

Our 2019 Topper who had scored 312 in Biology currently pursuing her 1st year MBBS in Stanley Medical College had quoted this,

“Practicing is equally important in Biology as it is in Physics and Chemistry.”

Trust me, in the exam hall there are more chances of you not remembering what you read than remembering what you practiced. It has happened with me a lot. I may not remember a full chapter but I always remember the questions I practiced and the questions in which I had lost marks. Even in NEET, there were lot of questions which I directly knew because of my mass practice of questions in biology.

Mock tests and sample papers

The preparation for any examination is incomplete without solving the NEET previous year’s mock test papers. NEET preparation also requires you to solve NEETsample papers and give the mock tests. There are three things that you need do while solving the sample papers/previous year’s paper

  • Try to solve the test at one time.
  • Try to set  time for yourself while solving the test
  • Analyze the result and try to figure out which topics you need more work done.

NEET preparation tips given above will help you kick start your NEETpreparation, but the ultimate preparation strategy has to be designed by you. Each mind is different, thus the preparation strategy will also be different according to one’s talent. Set your own space/rules, and strictly stick to it.

Foundation first:

The physics and Chemistry section of NEETcomprises both theoretical and numerical questions. Those who believe in mugging everything up everything can solve the theory portion, but what about the numerical(main) section? It is also important to understand the concepts and basics.

Example: Let’s take Ohm’s law for instance. There can be any two types of questions from this topic:

What does the letter ‘I’ stand for in Ohm’s Law in physics?

If you are increasing the voltage across a resistor, what will happen to the current?

In the above situation, candidates who have read the law find the very first question easy. The second question, on the other hand, require a knowledge of the basic concept of Ohm’s Law. It is therefore important to understand the concept and theory. As they say “You can’t build a huge building on a very weak foundation.”

Understanding the examination pattern of NEET Exam:

The next and important step for NEET preparation is to understand the type of questions that can be asked in the examination. Refer to the previous years’ NEET question papers and mock tests. You can also find out the topics which have more weightage in the examination by doing this method.

Smart-study is the key:

The syllabus for NEET Exam is vast, and it is practically impossible to know everything! It is therefore important to choose and study the right material and also be wise in selecting the main topics that have to be mainly prioritized. Also, NEET Exam is an undergraduate level examination and the candidate is not expected to solve B.Sc. level questions. This is where smart and intelligent study comes into action.

Best Books to Study In NEET Exam:

The markets are full of books on NEET preparation, but to excel in this examination, one must pick the right book one from a shelf. The best books for NEET Exam are those which help you understand the subject better. NEET books should be picked according to your level of preparation.

Time is priceless. We all know this, yet many aspirants fail to make the proper use of time and take a nosedive. Goal setting can be used as a strategy to help aspirants bring positive changes into their lives. In order to implement the setting of a goal, make sure to ask ourselves some questions: What is my goal? Is my goal realistic? How much effort has to be put in to fulfill my goal? Until and unless you make a complete and thorough schedule of the way you want to study, you will not be able to complete the syllabus. Plan for the week in advance and figure out chapters that you need to prepare from the beginning.

It is possible that you are very strong in one subject and weak in the other. Do not get discouraged by the same. Try and work hard more on the weaker areas to strengthen them. If required, take help from a friend or senior or take extra classes for the subject. It will help in overcoming the fear of your weakness effectively.

Practice Mock Test Papers

One of the greatest challenges of the NEET examination is the time limitation. Students have to finish 180 questions in 180 minutes (3 hours). It means they can give a maximum of 1 minute per question. Time management is a mandatory skill that is required for this exam. While practicing at home, make sure that you keep the time limitation in mind and see complete solution of NEET previous year question paper; focus on the frequently asked questions, topics and pattern.

We are humans and not machines. So, we require timely rest as, after all, even machines need some rest to get back to working efficiently. Hence, it is essential to realize that one can’t maintain an optimum level of concentration without taking an optimum break to recover. But beware that you don’t bring the breaks on a higher priority than studies. Breaks can be in the form of a ten-minute walk, a trip to the gym, having a chat with a friend or simply taking small naps.

There are many people who study by highlighting in the textbooks and making notes with a pen on a scrap of paper. These methods still find their place and importance, but there are countless options for personalising study than ever before. Be it through online tools, social media, blogs, videos or mobile apps, learning has become easy, interesting and user-centered today. If you wish to try a new learning technology, then Venper  is a great place to learn.

Many candidates have the tendency of taking the guesswork route for solving questions they don’t know. However, it might prove risky in this case as there is negative marking for a wrong answer. It is recommended to leave a question completely if you do not know the right answer. This is one of the most important tips to Crack NEET 2020 that anyone can give!

Your attitude decides the effectiveness of the learning process. If you possess a negative approach and keep saying that you can’t do it, then this won’t commit to the idea of learning. A grumbling approach will only make things difficult. The moment you start thinking positively, your brain will show greater activity. A right frame of mind also makes you feel less anxious and more open to new ideas.

It’s right time to enroll for NEET 2020 with Venper Academy.

Avoid answering questions in last few minutes :
Last minute hustle may increase the chances of mistakes and negative marking.
